Orthodontic Treatment Available For:

Children – Did you know that kids should have their first orthodontic screening by age 7? At this age, most kids will have developed incisors and their first molars, and this allows us to evaluate any potential problems.

Certain conditions are easily spotted and best treated as early as possible. Issues like cross bites, thumb sucking, or severe crowding can be corrected promptly before the problems become serious. We can perform a comprehensive evaluation of your child’s teeth, and if everything looks good, we offer free observation visits until treatment is needed.

Teens – If it looks like your teenager will need orthodontic treatment, we have several great options available. Most issues are still easily treated in teenagers, so it’s a good idea to continue regular checkups as your child gets older. As your teen’s jaw develops, we can quickly spot any problems and provide preemptive, preventative treatment to keep his or her smile straight and healthy.

Adults – If you’ve put off orthodontic care for years, it’s never too late to start. There are now plenty of great ways to correct issues without extensive, time-intensive treatment. Many adults are great candidates for unobtrusive treatments like Invisalign, so don’t be afraid to pursue the smile you’ve always wanted.

Conditions Treated:

  • Crowding – Crowding occurs when there isn’t enough space for all the teeth to fit properly within the jaws. As adult teeth come in, crowding causes some to be twisted or displaced. It’s important to correct crowding because it prevents proper dental hygiene. This can lead to tooth decay and gum disease.
  • Spacing – On the opposite end of the spectrum, spacing occurs when the teeth are smaller than normal, or the jaws are larger than normal. This most commonly results in a gap between the two upper front teeth, though it can affect all the teeth. Spacing is not just an aesthetic issue though, as the exposed gums are more prone to periodontal disease.
  • Protruding Front Teeth – This happens when the upper teeth extend too far forward or when the lower teeth don’t extend far enough. Thumb sucking is a common cause of this condition, and the protrusion can cause speech problems, hygiene problems, and damage to the teeth. Early treatment is key to preventing this condition.
  • Open Bite – When the upper and lower incisors don’t touch when biting down, this is called an “open bite”. This is another condition that can be caused by thumb sucking as well as incorrect use of bottles and pacifiers. Sometimes an open bite is also caused by tongue thrust or improper tongue posture. It’s important to correct an open bite as it can cause serious speech issues.
  • Underbite – Normally, the front upper teeth should land in front of the lower front teeth. If the lower teeth lie in front of the upper teeth when the jaw is closed, this is called an “underbite”. Unlike other conditions, an underbite is often rooted in genetics; however, it can also result from thumb sucking or prolonged use of a pacifier. An underbite should be corrected as soon as possible as it can cause headaches, jaw pain, inflammation, and even arthritis in the joints of the jaw.
  • Deep Bite – A deep bite is another alignment issue, but in this case, the lower teeth make contact with the gum tissue in the upper arch of the jaw. In some cases, this is nothing more than an aesthetic issue; however, an extreme deep bite can cause gum recession and damage to the roots of the upper teeth.
  • Impacted Canines – Canines are the four “fang”-looking teeth in the mouth. These teeth have thicker roots than incisors, and are often very firmly connected to the jaw. The upper canines sometimes get stuck, or “impacted” on their way out. Sometimes this is due to extra teeth. Other times it can be due to overcrowding or unusual growths. Whatever the cause, impacted canines should be treated and extracted.
  • Early Treatment – Nearly every orthodontic condition can be preempted and treated with good early care. By bringing your children in for regular checkups, we can spot problems before they become serious. In many cases, this can help you to avoid major treatment as we will be able to prevent crowding and help your child’s teeth come in properly.

Braces Manufacturers:

If you or your children need braces, we offer a number of excellent options. Today, you aren’t limited to traditional braces and clunky headgear. Now there are brilliant, cutting edge options that can keep treatment time to a minimum and provide exceptional results.

  • Damon System – The Damon System is a modern approach to metal braces. It is a self-litigating system that eliminates much of the discomfort associated with traditional braces (which needed regular tightening).
  • Lotus System – The Lotus System is another self-litigating solution that we offer to our patients. It delivers excellent results without the bulkiness and discomfort of traditional brackets and ligatures.
  • Pure – Pure braces are an excellent option for adults and teens as they are designed to be exceptionally unobtrusive. The brackets are made from pure monocrystalline sapphire and are practically transparent on the teeth. Combined with tooth-colored wires, this system is an aesthetic approach to treatment.
  • Bionic – This is a great option for kids because it’s not only a streamlined, powerful solution, but kids also love dressing up their braces with their favorite colors.
  • Invisalign – One of the newest options on the market, Invisalign and Invisalign Teen are revolutionizing orthodontic care. Traditional brackets are replaced with a series of clear plastic aligners which are shaped specifically for the individual patient. It’s an invisible, powerful way to correct many orthodontic issues.
