The Treatment Process for Invisalign in Loxahatchee

Your Invisalign journey will begin with a custom consultation at our Family Orthodontics office. During your exam, we’ll examine your teeth, mouth and jaw to see if you’re a good candidate for this course of treatment. While Invisalign is an excellent system, there are certain conditions that prevent it from working as it should. If your teeth can be improved with our courses of Invisalign in Loxahatchee, we’ll proceed to the next step.

Taking Records

The next step involves taking extensive records of your teeth and face. The Invisalign company will create custom trays for your teeth, so this step must be completed very accurately.

We’ll start with detailed photos of your face, mouth and teeth, then take a number of x-rays. These images will be sent to Invisalign, along with specific instructions from our orthodontist.

Invisalign will make a computerized 3D model of your teeth and map out the recommended course of movement. Our orthodontist will work closely with the Invisalign technicians to perfect the approach for your specific needs. Once everything is just right, Invisalign will go ahead and make the aligner trays.

Straightening Begins!

Within four weeks, your custom-made trays will arrive at our office, and you’ll be ready to start straightening your teeth. You’ll simply put the first tray in, and keep it in whenever you’re not eating or cleaning your teeth.

Every two weeks, you’ll progress to the next set of aligners. Each set is created to move your teeth just a little bit more – usually about 0.1 mm per tray. Each new set will put pressure in just the right spots to leave your teeth a little bit straighter.

Fixes and Aids

In some cases, your teeth will need minor adjustments for the aligners to take. Many people need small “attachments” fixed to the teeth. These give the aligners a grip point so that they stay in place.

In some cases, we’ll also use rubber bands to rotate specific teeth. In cases of crowding, we may also do a little interproximal reduction so that the teeth fit better in the mouth.
